A Small Glimpse.....

Happy Mother's Day!  And it is beautiful weather here, and my kids have been nearly perfect, and my wonderful husband changed all the diapers, and insisted I didn't lift a finger-- so I have had a great day.  Hope yours was just as good :)

I've had this idea in my head for a long time, but we never could figure out exactly the best way to execute it (without ending up strange or something) and finally we just decided to put it on a pillow and I'm so glad we did! This will be our first pillow pattern, besides the one we sort of gave you with the 100 block tour.  I believe this will be the start of lots more completely amazing pillows- because you can get all the adorable-ness of the appliqué/stitchery combo (or in this case, stitchery and pinwheels) and without the time and energy of a quilt.  These make awesome gifts, and they don't take too long, nor do they take a lot of fabric.  It's also an excellent way to spruce up your beds or couches without too much work.

So this one, inspired by the old "shoo-fly don't bother me" song:

is ADORABLE! Who knew shoo-flys were bright and cheerful? wonderfully sweet, I think.

I'm trying to finish this pattern up and move and not pull my hair out, so I've got a busy week. But it's too cute not to share.

Also, we're thrilled Little Things is featured in this month einsider the newsletter from Quilts, inc.  We love this newsletter, and our flattered by the inclusion.

And again, Happy Mother's Day to all, and especially to my amazing mother and business partner.  She's so talented, so kind, hilarious, and the best grandmother to my children.  It's an honor and blessing to call her 'mom'.  (p.s. thanks for watching my children this weekend, and I am really sorry my daughter climbed on everything and picked apart your flowers.  ahem.  at least she's cute right?)

Winners! And a sneak peak because I can't help it.

Thank you all for your nice comments! We thoroughly enjoyed reading through all of them and truly do appreciate all your kind words.  And thanks to all our new followers, we hope we can continue to inspire you :)

And no, we don't think we have bad hair.....most days.  I need a hair cut and my mother admittedly wakes up with "bird hair".  It's pretty awesome, but she'd kill me if I posted a picture.

And! Without further ado!

Winner of the magazine is:

You have made the cutest pillow using the Lazy Daisies. That pillow sure would look cute on a girl's bed. Heck, it would even look good on my bed. I follow your blog and look forward to many more good times with you. I bet that everyone wants that pillow patten now. Thank you for giving all of us a chance to win such an awesome magazine.

I think it is really neat that you are a mother-daughter team. I really like your block and especially like the red version. I also took a sneak peek at your new patterns. Little Things is going on my list of things I must make for my new granddaughter. So pretty!

Yeah appliqué and embroidery, I just ohh and ahh so I am now following you, want to see more of your work.

Thanks to all who entered!  Please check your email!

And now, a sneak peak of our first-ever, block-of-the-month! We are SO excited for this, as it is quite possibly the cutest thing ever.   It's a 10 month program, with plenty of appliqué and stitchery and adorable-ness, you'll want to make it 60 times, I'm sure.   Appliqué and stitchery provide wonderful and legitimate excuses to watch your favorite t.v. shows.  So if you need to catch up on Mad Men without feeling guilty- meags & me is here for you.

Cuuuuuuute! It is so fun to work on (believe me.  you will not want to work on anything else).  Block one is almost available, and if you're just as excited as us,  click the new "block of the month" tab. PDF emailed Block One will be sent out June 1 and we will let you know when the hard copy program becomes available.   We'll have pictures of the finished quilt for all to see in about a 6 weeks.

And it's still nameless.   So if you have any great ideas, we'd love to hear them :) Congrats to our winners!

Quiltmakers Blog Tour

Welcome to last and best ;) day of the Quiltmaker's 100 Block Blog Tour.  We could not be more thrilled to be a part of this awesome, awesome magazine, and stand along side of some of our favorite designers.

If you're new here, we'd love for you to stick around and stay awhile.  We are a mother/daughter quilt pattern team and we have a lot of fun working together and creating fantastic quilt patterns.

Our block for this issue, is applique and a little stitchery- our most favorite combo.  It's block #409, on page 28, called Lazy Daisies. We made this with Clothworks Shades line, which is a great line- just a little more fun and interesting than solids.

We decided to re-create this block in a pillow.  For fun, we decided to match one of our favorite patterns, Little Red, and embroidered the recipients name on the block.  We tried a monochromatic theme in red prints and it turned out BEAUTIFUL.  I'm totally obsessed, I sort of wish "meags" was embroidered on it so I could squirrel it away for my own bed.  *sigh*  At least I like this Emma.

We debated for awhile, centering this block on a table runner with some fancy pinwheels - another fabulous idea that would be charming for spring and summer.

Leave a comment (any comment! you can tell us we have bad hair and you'd still be entered!) for a chance to win a free copy of this magazine compliments of Quiltmaker (and if you've been following the blog tour, you'll know there are lots of other inspiring blocks- this is the best issue yet).  We'll be choosing another 2 winners for a free PDF copy of one of our patterns, your choice. We'll end the giveaways Sunday, May 6th and post the winners here Monday morning.  Don't forget to enter for other great prizes at Quiltmaker.

Thanks for all the fun!

New Patterns!

We have three new ADORABLE patterns available for you!

At the Carnival.  An amazing stitchery quilt with lovely pieced candy blocks around the border.  Perfect as a wall hanging for the summer/fall months on that wall you don't have a quilt for yet.  This quilt is so fun to work on and has a great vintage-y feel.  Look at the fortune teller! Soooo cute!

12 Dancing Princesses.  I'm in love with this quilt.  We've got 12 embroidered princesses (I love embroidery) dancing around all over this quilt in their pajamas.  You cannot get any sweeter than this.  We stitched seed beads over part of each princess with invisible thread to make this quilt sparkle and shine.  It is absolutely perfect for all your little princesses and dancers.  A great size too! This quilt finishes at 60" x 76" which is the best size to cuddle up with and watch your favorite princess movie.  Darling. Darling. Darling.

And last, but not least, and totally my favorite right now: Little Things.  This is the sweetest baby quilt you will ever see.  It is fast, easy, and makes the perfect baby gift.  Simple applique, a little embroidery, and a few pinwheels and you've got this wonderfully sweet blanket.  How adorable would this be hanging in your nursery?

And finally, for the first time ever, we're starting a block of the month! It's not quite ready yet, but I am dying to show it off.  Stay tuned because it's coming soon...
